Our women simply deserve better.”
Dr. Mikhail C.S.S. Higgins earned his bachelor’s degree with Honors from Macalester College and an MD with Distinction from Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He completed an MPH focusing on Health Care Policy and Administration at Yale University and concluded his medical training with a residency and fellowship in Interventional Radiology at prestigious institutions, including the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Virginia Medical Center.
Dr. Higgins is known for his skill in minimally invasive procedures, covering areas such as women’s health, vascular interventions, and treatments for liver and renal tumors. He also established RISQCS, a Quality and Patient Safety educational symposium endorsed by the Society of Interventional Radiology. Dr. Higgins has served as the Chair for the Interventional Radiology 2 Expert Panel for the Appropriateness Criteria for the American College of Radiology. Dr. Higgins has also served as the Chair for the Society of Interventional Radiology’s Coalition for Culture Transformation and Advancement of Opportunity.

A strong advocate for diversity and inclusion, Dr. Higgins cofounded the UPHS-CHOP Alliance of Minority Physicians at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He has also served as Chair of the Society of Interventional Radiology’s Diversity Equity Inclusion and Advancement Coalition (DEIAC). His community involvement extends to mentoring underrepresented students and sharing his expertise as a yoga instructor and performance coach for athletes, sharing his holistic approach to health and leadership.
Dr. Mikhail Higgins is the country’s first board-certified fellowship-trained Interventional Radiologist. He is on the Family Medicine Center medical team. Through his collaboration with Family Medicine Center, Dr. Higgins brings innovative new medical techniques to The Bahamas and The Caribbean, previously unavailable in the region.
